Agnes Akosua Phillips holds an undergraduate degree in French with Political Science and a post graduate diploma in Journalism and Communication Studies both from the University of Ghana. She also holds a Masters Degree in International Development from the Cornell University in the United States. As an undergraduate student, Agnes was an active member of the University Christian Fellowship and became Volta Hall Representative on the UCF Executive Committee.

She worked as Chief Reporter with the Ghana News Agency in Accra and later joined World Vision as a Communications Officer and rose to become the Director for Advocacy, Communications and Marketing. In the course of her work, she has travelled extensively both within and outside Ghana.

In 2006, Agnes Phillips felt an insistent call to enter the ministry. Consequently, she undertook a Certificate–In-Ministry (CIM) course at Trinity Theological Seminary where she graduated with Distinction, earning the prize for Overall Best Participant. She has been an active member of LIC since 1982 and has served as a lay preacher, a member of the Committee of Elders and also as a Deputy Presiding Elder. She has served and still continues to serve on the editorial board of LIC Magazine and as a member of Social Action Ministry in the church.

Rev. Phillips and her husband, Dr. Fred Phillips (one of the founders of LIC) have three adult children: Lillian, Michael and David; and three grandsons, Kekeli, Nyameye and Dzidzor.
